Barbara Pantino
Owner/Instructor
Barbara was
born in Brooklyn, NY, and at the age of three, moved to the Massapequas with her family. She remained in
the Massapequas, where she enjoys all of the wonderful offerings that Long Island has to offer. Spending quality time with
her husband Al and her daugther Danielle, horseback riding, gardening, kayaking, birdwatching, happy hours with friends
on weekends are among her joys and of course, Pilates. Barbara
has recently been blessed by the birth of her first grandchild, Madeline Grace this 2007!
Barbara Pantino discovered Pilates in 1996, starting with a stability ball and a fitness magazine article on Pilates.
She was fortunate to work with a Pilates Mat Instructor for the first time at a local gym.
Being a fit athlete and into fitness since a young girl as a gymnast and equestrian,
Barbara became tired of the same work with gym fitness training. “Pilates was like opening
up a new world to me.”

As a successful business
woman, Barbara recognized the overwhelming pressures of work, home and life. Her decision to educate
in Pilates changed her life. Discovering the imbalances in her own body and posture, the tightness in over contraction of
her muscles and touching on her spirit with the mind-body work, simply intrigued her.
In early 2004, Barbara spent a year and a half educating
at a past Stott Pilates Licensed Facility in
New York City. She was accepted into the Pilates Intensive (Matriculated) Program. More than
700 hours were logged in between educating, observation of instructors at the facility, private training with a
Master Instructor/Trainer for more than 20 sessions, and apprenticing at her local gym. She was offered a Master wage
from the Stott Facility which she declined, going on her own on Long Island. “Keeping the client interested by fresh
instruction; cueing with Passion and not monotone repetition and being touchable and personable is important as a trainer/teacher.”
Working with a heart rate monitor thru her sessions and education, Barbara created
a “Cardio-Pilates” repertoire incorporating a four pound mini-body bar to get the heart rate up to burn
more calories per hour for those clients that want it. Her fitness background infused in the need for Cardio
work as well. "Bringing the client to the next level of fitness helps
them to achieve their goals."
Knowing the client comes first and the importance of proper alignment,
quality of movement and breath, it was important to Barbara to keep the classes to small groups the way Joe meant it
to be. “Pilates is not about filling a room with bodies at a gym”. “It’s
not about lining up reformers to generate more income.” With focus on the core, it’s about
creating a healthy spine and keeping the client free of injury through constant cueing and correction. “How
can a Pilates Instructor do that with more than 20 bodies in a class at one time?”
After completing more than 6 months working and apprenticing at her Long
Island Southshore gym with the classes filled to capacity, she decided to go it on her own, creating a lovely private
studio and offering private training on the Pilates apparatus and small, intimate Mat classes with all of the Pilates Props.
“Barbara was the best instructor I’ve ever had at our gym”, says the fitness director at her gym.”
“Our members continue to ask for her.” Barbara is a highly sought-after Pilates Instructor. The
fitness field continues to seek her through referral and recommendations! Whether you’re a beginner to Pilates
and fitness, looking to continue to rehabilitate from an injury after Physical Therapy, or are the most elite athlete or Pilates
enthusiast, Barbara can help you succeed to a “higher level”.
Pilates is a regime for a lifetime." "It's functional fitness to assist with other sports and every day
life!" "It's about you, the client, an instructor needs to love teaching and I am absolutely in love with
my new career!"
